We Rose Up Slowly

as if we didn't belong to the outside world any longer ...like swimmers in a shadowy dream... who didn't need to breathe.

Roman october.

It is october. Summer is ended. But Rome has its own fashion in all seasons.

In winter you can walk trough the alleys around Piazza Navona, arm in arm with your girlfriend, and stop buying some toasted chestnut, peeling them for her.

In spring, you can stroll on the Aventino, or sit on a parapet in Gianicolo, and just enjoy the meravellous sightseen of Rome.

In summer, of course, you can take out your scooter, or vespa, or moto and go round for the known and unknown streets, palaces, bars, churchs, or whatever. Oh I love going round with my scooter.

But in autumn, specially in October, something strange happens. Something magic. The romans call it “ottobrata romana”, roman october. After the rain of September, some gentle God send incredible sunny days. The temperature is low, but there is a sunny weather, a deep azure sky. The sky is so azure and clear that you can see for miles and miles.

Just until 30 or 40 years ago in october Romans took romantic walks on lungotevere, belong the river, under red plane-trees. The leaves are yellow, brown, red, some still green, the sky is so azure and clean. Your soul is so full of beauty and emotion that all you can do is stop and silently thank that gentle God.

Oh, so in love <3 I want to move to Rome so badly. Italy is the most beautiful country in the world and I’d love to live there. Some day…
